How Mr. Paw Portraits Donated $6,000 Back to Rescue Dogs
Pet photography has always meant more to me than just creating beautiful images. As a Fort Lauderdale dog photographer, I believe photography can be a powerful way to give back — especially to the animals and rescue organizations that work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Through a special Dogs of Fort Lauderdale calendar contest and photoshoot project, Mr. Paw Portraits was able to raise and donate $6,000 to Tri-County Animal Rescue in Boca Raton, Florida. This blog shares how that came together, the people who made it possible, and why supporting animal rescue through art matters so much to me.
About Tri-County Animal Rescue in Boca Raton, FL

Tri-County Animal Rescue is a long-standing nonprofit organization based in Boca Raton, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. They are especially known for taking in senior dogs, medical cases, and animals who require extra care — dogs who might otherwise be overlooked.
From the beginning, the Tri-County team was welcoming, appreciative, and genuinely excited about the impact this project could have. Their openness and support made it clear that this donation would directly help dogs who truly need it.
The People Behind the Mission at Tri-County Animal Rescue

One of the most meaningful parts of this experience was working with the people who make Tri-County Animal Rescue what it is.
Suzi Goldsmith, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Tri-County Animal Rescue, has built an organization rooted in compassion, responsibility, and unwavering dedication to animal welfare. Her leadership sets the tone for the rescue’s mission and long-term impact in South Florida.
I also had the pleasure of working with Caryn Teman and Veronica Peters, whose communication, kindness, and enthusiasm helped make this collaboration seamless. Their gratitude and support truly stood out, and it reinforced how powerful community partnerships can be when everyone shares the same goal — helping animals live better lives.
Dogs of Fort Lauderdale: A Calendar Contest With a Purpose
The Dogs of Fort Lauderdale calendar contest was designed to bring dog lovers together while raising meaningful funds for animal rescue. Families entered their dogs, participated in professional portrait sessions, and supported the project knowing it would benefit a great cause.
Each session focused on capturing real personality — playful moments, calm connections, and the unique bond between dogs and their people. From energetic puppies to gentle senior dogs, every photoshoot was handled with patience and care.
The response from the community was incredible, and thanks to that support, the project raised enough to make a $6,000 donation to Tri-County Animal Rescue.
$6,000 Donated Through Community-Driven Pet Photography

This donation wasn’t the result of a single sponsor — it came from families, dog owners, and supporters who chose to participate in something meaningful.
The funds raised through the calendar contest and photoshoots will help Tri-County Animal Rescue continue providing:
Veterinary care and medical treatment
Daily care, food, and supplies
Support for senior and special-needs dogs
Second chances for animals waiting for loving homes
Being able to turn dog photography into direct support for rescue work is one of the most rewarding aspects of what I do.
Community Support Made This Possible
Projects like this don’t happen alone.
From the venue partners who helped host the photoshoots, to the families who showed up excited and supportive, to the Tri-County team who welcomed the collaboration — every part mattered. This project was a reminder of what’s possible when local businesses, nonprofits, and dog lovers come together with a shared purpose.
It’s community support like this that allows animal rescue organizations to continue their life-saving work.
Why Giving Back Is Part of My Work as a Dog Photographer
As the photographer behind Mr. Paw Portraits, my focus has always been on connection — between dogs and their people, and between art and meaning.
Pet photography preserves moments we can never get back. When those moments also help dogs in need, the experience becomes even more powerful. Whether I’m photographing a playful puppy or a senior dog enjoying their golden years, I approach every session with intention, respect, and heart.
This event was a reminder that photography can be both beautiful and impactful.

Book a Pet Photography Session That Lives in Your Home

If you’re looking for a pet photographer in Fort Lauderdale or Boca Raton, I’d love to photograph your dog.
This isn’t about collecting photos and forgetting them on your phone. It’s about creating something real — artwork in your home that reminds you, every day, of who your dog is and what they mean to you.
The goofy looks. The loyalty. The quiet moments. The way they fit perfectly into your life.
Your session is relaxed and thoughtful, and the final result is something you’ll live with and love for years — a beautiful reminder of a chapter of your life that goes by way too fast.
As a bonus, your artwork also helps support local animal rescue, which is something close to my heart.
